Vaughan is a City that has doubled in size over the past 20 years. From the days of basically being made up of smaller towns like Woodbridge, Maple, Kleinburg and Thornhill West, Vaughan has ballooned into a major city north of Toronto.
Today you don't drive through an urban community then farms and backs in to another urban community. It is a group of neighbourhoods with no break except for the green space in Woodbridge. The west side of Vaughan was made up of old Thornhill and farmland. Today, this area consists of Brownridge, Beverley Glen, Crestwood and Patterson also known as Thornhill Woods and Dufferin Hill. These neighbourhoods are in the Town of Thornhill and have become one of the most sought after neighbourhoods in the GTA. We have seen the prices of homes double and are now pushing $900,000 for an average price.
To the west of this area is Maple, Lakeview Estates, and Concord again very new area filled with Townhouses and homes ranging from modest 3 bedrooms to luxury estates. Maple is the only community with any history as these other areas are new within the past 20 years. Homes in this area are similarly priced as the Thornhill area.
The west side of Vaughan is made up with the communities of Woodbridge. Once a small dormant logging town Woodbridge has grown into a huge community including Sonoma Heights, Vellore Village, East and West Woodbridge and the older area downtown. Woodbridge continues to grow to this day but most of the growth happened in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's.
Vaughan offers all types of properties but we see a majority of the properties being houses and townhouses. Condos are staring to appear along highway 7 and Yonge Street but this is more due to the Toronto expansion of the subway.
Vaughan does offer semi, splits and bungalows but they tend to be in the older neighbourhoods. We have seen larger bungalows in the newer neighbourhoods popping up for older couples.
Vaughan is a very family oriented city offering a great deal of greenspace (the Kortright Centre), community Centres and great walking and biking paths. Vaughan all the amenities of Toronto and I would say shopping is easier here with you big box malls (Vaughan Mills) with your scattered family boutique stores throughout.
Vaughan is known for providing very strong sports programs for both young and old.
